Brightsight is proud to announce that the Fort Fox Hardware Data Diode of Fox-IT BV has been certified under Common Criteria at the level of EAL7+. This certification results from the evaluation of this Data Diode performed by Brightsight. This is the first EAL7+ evaluation under the latest Common Criteria standard version 3.1.

EAL7 is the highest assurance level defined for IT security evaluations. In this evaluation EAL7 is augmented with an architectural design specification in the Security Target and with procedures for systematic flaw remediation.

Brightsight and Fox-IT used a stepwise approach to obtain this assurance level. Last year a certification was completed at the level of EAL4 augmented with AVA_VAN.5 and ALC_DVS.2. Dirk-Jan Out, CEO of Brightsight, explains "The stepwise approach contained demarcation of the evaluation, early understanding the security of the product and subsequently increase the level to include the more difficult parts of an evaluation. This reduces the evaluation risks".

The Data Diode is certified under the Dutch Common Criteria Scheme (operated by TNO-Certification). This means that this evaluation is fully recognized by countries that signed the Common Criteria European Recognition Agreement (known as SOG-IS).

Brightsight is an approved IT Security Evaluation Facility (ITSEF) that offers an independent examination and evaluation of all relevant security criteria tailored to product-specific needs. The evaluation services include secure IT products such as smart cards, payment terminals, electronic ID cards, mobile communication devices, car equipment and more. Brightsights' customers range from international financial institutions to organizations in the telecom and automotive industry, from IT product manufacturers to governments.
