Dirk-Jan Out

Jan Pieters

Dirk-Jan Out has a PhD in Computer Science. He managed the security evaluation group within a TNO Defense Institute since 1997. He was heavily involved in making the Common Criteria standard into its current form. After developing the groups evaluation skills, he successfully spun-off the group into a separate company in 2001.

Jan Pieters has a MSc in Chemistry. He has been involved in security evaluations in various roles since 1990 and has been managing the security evaluation group within the TNO Institute of Applied Physics since 1995. Under his leadership the group was successfully spun-off from TNO in 2004.

At that time both groups merged into the company now known as Brightsight.

Dirk-Jan Out, Jan Pieters CEOs

Brightsight is led by Dirk-Jan and Jan, who together fulfill the role of
CEO, take care of day-to-day management and are responsible for the business. The emphasis of Dirk-Jan is on the Financial side, while Jan takes care of the Human Resource side of Brightsight.

Jan Blonk

Jan Blonk has a bachelor degree in applied physics and a masters degree in Information and Knowledge Technology. Jan has been involved in many software engineering projects since 1975, either as a systems designer/developer of real time systems, or as a project manager. From 1990 until 2000 he was involved in the development of information architectures for traffic management systems mainly in the role of an IT-consultant for the Dutch Ministry of transport. In 2000 he joined the group that later became Brightsight and since then has been involved as a security specialist in many evaluations concerning smart card technology. Currently Jan is a manager in Brightsight responsible for card evaluations.

Hans König

Hans König is manager of the Hardware Evaluations group at Brightsight. He has a background in chemical engineering (BSc) and extensive knowledge on Optical systems, Lasers, Spectroscopy, Analog/Digital electronics, Fiber Optics and Software Development. Hans has managed multidisciplinary project teams working on the development of different chemical sensors and analytical instruments and he continued his career at Brightsight, at first as a project manager for security evaluations. He has vast experience in evaluation projects on smart cards and secure microcontrollers (IC’s) and was involved in many security evaluation projects for Visa, Mastercard and Common Criteria. In his current role he is responsible for development and sales of Brightsight’s security analysis tools and all IC security evaluations that are performed within Brightsight.

Olaf Tettero

Olaf Tettero has a background in Information Technology (PhD) and has specialized in IT security for over 15 years. Olaf has experience with a broad variety of IT systems and has performed many evaluations in the role of evaluator and project manager. For over 10 years Olaf has advised organizations in defining their security requirements and in understanding and organizing their certification processes. Currently he is manager of the System Evaluations group of Brightsight. He is responsible for the security evaluations of IT Systems that are performed within Brightsight. The evaluations are performed under several certification and approval schemes.

Hugo Buitenhuis

Hugo Buitenhuis has a background in Physics (MSc) and has experience in software development and industrial automation. Hugo has been with Brightsight for the last 15 years in different roles. Among his activities were security and process audits of production facilities for security devices. Project management activities ranged from payment terminals to smartcard evaluations. Within Brightsight Hugo is Project Manager/ Quality Manager. He is responsible for the Quality System (ISO 17025) and contact with the different accreditation bodies.
