Company Chronology

  • 1930’s Forming TNO, the Netherlands organisation for applied scientific research, by the Dutch government to act as an intermediate research and development institute between government, universities and industry
  • 1980 Starting security evaluation activities within the TNO unit EIB (evaluation centre for security techniques)
  • 1997 Developing the capability of performing Common Criteria evaluations
  • 2002 Spinning off the Common Criteria division in a private company (TNO ITSEF BV), owned by TNO
  • 2004 Merging of the EIB and Common Criteria activities to operate under the name of TNO ITSEF BV
  • 2006 Changing the company’s name to Brightsight
  • 2007 Forming Joint Ventures Brightsight Asia in Korea and BeSecure in Japan
  • 2011 Establishing a subsidiary Brightsight Asia Pacific in Singapore
